Felixstowe Rugby (Eastern Counties Rugby Union Club of the Year 2018) have continued their off field success with the recent announcement of a new sponsor.
Goldstar Transport is headquartered in Felixstowe and is one of the UK’s largest and most successful transport companies. They deliver approx. 1,200 containers every day from ports all around the country.
This new sponsorship deal was formally announced at a recent event in the town where the rugby pitch on which Felixstowe play was renamed as the ‘Goldstar Rugby Ground’. The event was attended by members of the rugby club and several VIP’s including Felixstowe Town Mayor Graham Newman and RFU Council Member Roger Pierson as well as Directors and Committee members of Felixstowe Rugby. Also present at the event to cut the gold ribbon was Matthew Ashworth, Managing Director at Goldstar Transport and a former player at Felixstowe Rugby Club.
This latest support from Goldstar follows a long line of local companies getting behind Felixstowe Rugby to support their plans to develop and grow the game of rugby in Felixstowe.
Their latest development plans now include full pitch floodlighting, additional rugby pitches for their ladies and growing youth / minis section and the construction of a new 2 storey clubhouse.
The senior men’s playing squad continues to strengthen under the management of Eastern Counties Rugby Union Coach of the Year 2018 – Gareth Carr and new Club Captain Mike Anderson. The season has just kicked off and Felixstowe opened their account at the ‘Goldstar Rugby Ground’ with a winning start.
